Rod Humble Speaks Up! 5/3
Rod Humble, head of The Sims studio posted on the BBS today. I know that this is a strict, Sims 3 only site, but this news was big enough for me to put it up here. In PhoenixFiresky post, Do You Believe EA Games REALLY Listens, Rod Humble posted saying this exactly:
We do.
Just because we don't post here very often doesn't mean we dont listen or read player comments and suggestions. This community is at the center of everything we do, community comments are always referenced during business or design meetings and competing player viewpoints are frequently the only arguments used for vital creative decisions.
The reason you don't see myself or many devs posting is we have a stunning community team here in The Sims label who send us your comments and strongly represent the community everyday. We need a community team because there are so many of you and we are so grateful you are here! Talking to millions of passionate creative Sims players is a huge challenge but I hope you agree the Maxoids here do a fine job.
Firstly let me acknowledge that there are many Sims players who would like Makin Magic or Superstar for Sims 2. I hope you know us well enough by now that you realize we always do our best to make what you ask for. Sims 2 development is certainly not over yet and we have not yet revealed all details of what we have in store.
Secondly I know some of you have thought my choice of EP suggestions I named in interviews were not aligned with common ones you are familiar with. Fair enough. Honestly during interviews whats on my mind and the last concept I read about tends to float to the top. Please dont take it as a set in stone viewpoint and forgive me for errors when they slip in, I did mean death by hail in Seasons instead of death by snow :)
Thirdly ....is that a word? :) I know many of you have been reading Sims 3 previews with interest. Please note we usually talk about whats new, as thats the most compelling in a short form preview or interview. Let me assure you that the Sims 3 first and foremost will deliver the same core Sims gameplay you love and have enjoyed for years. The Sims 3 will add to your creative control and ability to craft your game the way you want, not diminish it, as I hope you will join us in discovering when we release next year.

guardian.co.uk posted a new article about the Sims 3 on their site. It just talks about how it successful the sims has been, how their working on the Sims 3, etc.

rockpapershotgun posted a dinner interview with Rod Humble, about the Sims 3. There is a few new pieces of information, and the fact that we're probably getting OFB in the Sims 3. :)

Well, it's official! Today, we are open! :)
100.000.000 Sold! 4/15
EA has informed us, that on April 15th, 2008, the Sims franchise has finally sold it's 100.000.000th copy! They have greatly celebrated the occasion, by changing the logo that is on thesims2 site, and also putting up a new download for us!

A Spanish Sims 3 site, has posted an article (with English translations) about the Sims 3. It has some new information, such as sunsets, and cars.
